Maldives: Takes Measures To Prevent Extremism

Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom issued an order Oct. 17 including tough measures to prevent Islamist extremism in an attempt to protect the Maldives' tourism industry after a bomb attack.

The order said foreign clerics should not be allowed to enter the country without special permission and that extremist elements should not be allowed to hold religious services.
